The Importance of Being Healthy

Are you healthy? Do you exercise? The foods you eat can influence this. I have learned that the healthier foods you eat the longer you can live. I usually bring fruits and vegetables for lunch every day and I am very healthy. My diet affects how I do every day activities. If I eat a less healthy lunch, I get tired throughout the day. Now I will tell you what you can do to stay healthy.

Do you want to live forever? Well, 70% of how long you live is influenced on your lifestyle. The other 30% is genes. People who live in blue zones tend to live longer. In all blue zones people exercise and eat healthy foods because that is their lifestyle. People work hard, and there is no retirement. In Sardinia, people drink a special wine with antioxidants in it. In Okinawa, people eat fish, fruit, and lots of tofu. In Costa Rica they eat protein filled tortillas. No one retires. They people work there whole life. They are very active. Maybe you can live longer if you have a good lifestyle.

Your cells help you live. They usually come in pairs. But sometimes 2 cells will separate. Then they become free radicals. Free radicals will try to find another cell to pair with. But then it starts a chain reaction of free radical cells. Antioxidants can help a free radical become good again. Fortunately, the antioxidants do not turn into radicals. Foods that have antioxidants include; blueberries pomegranate, and acai berries.

Now you might ask “Abigail the Wonderful and Great One please tell me, how do I know how much to eat?” And I would say “You can use MyPyramid or now called MyPlate. It is a guide that has proportions of how much of each food you should eat to stay healthy. For all meals I usually try to eat all of the food groups that I can. Here are the different food groups, and the different amounts you need.

Grains

Vegetables

Fruits

Milk

Meat and Bean

2 ½ cups

1 ½ cups

3 cups

5 oz.

Most people don’t always eat from all of the food groups. I usually eat from all the food groups within a day. You should try to eat from all of the food groups everyday if possible. But it’s okay to have a treat sometimes. You should watch out for fats sugars and oils in foods. They are not a food group, but they can still effect your health. Only eat a little bit of each to stay healthy.

You may like certain foods for certain reasons. There are different reasons; here are some.

You prefer specific foods

You might eat certain ethnic foods

I usually try to eat all of the food groups no matter of the preferences. It is good to plan meals so you can stay healthy. You can plan meals using MyPyramid/MyPlate. You should also eat a variety of foods. Eating healthy foods really does make a difference on how you live.

If you exercise you will maintain a healthy weight. You will feel better about yourself. You will like your body image. A body image is how your body looks. Ads may try to shame certain body types, but as long as you are healthy, you don’t have to worry about your size. You can burn of calories by running, walking, biking, push-ups/pull ups, and dancing. It may be tempting but DO NOT BINGE WATCH WONDER WOMAN EPISODES!! Studies have shown binge watching Wonder Woman can seriously affect your health! You are not getting the exercise you need.

Now that you know how to be healthy, please stop staring at me and go exercise! Hey! Stop reading! Go! Leave! You are not burning calories! Seriously though, eat healthy, live longer, and be happy. Now please stop staring at me.
